Councillor Peter Gilberd, Wellington City Council Takapū Northern Ward
Since being elected as a councillor for Takapū Northern Ward in 2016, I’ve focused on protecting and enhancing our natural environment, encouraging bicultural and multicultural activity, supporting initiatives that promote jobs and improved living conditions for Wellingtonians, and speaking up for the role of science. I'd like to keep serving the people of the ward and the city.
Initiatives I have supported in the past three years include:
In the next term I will continue to support:
- additions to the Outer Green Belt
- new walkways on the harbour escarpment in Newlands
- protection of the Wellington Town Belt
- a policy for the care and welfare of domestic animals
- social and environmental responsibility.
In the next term I will continue to support:
- provision of more good housing for Wellingtonians
- regional initiatives to clean up our freshwater and improve biodiversity
- community volunteers
- an inclusive society where different cultures and world views are embraced.
